Graduada de Magíster en Ciencias Biológicas y de Licenciatura en Ciencias Biológicas PUC, en vías de titulación de Doctorado en Ciencias Biológicas con mención en Ecología de la misma universidad. Ha trabajado en investigación en fisiología ecológica con enfoque en efectos del cambio climático en los organismos y las poblaciones naturales. Durante toda su trayectoria académica ha estado a cargo de la enseñanza de diversos cursos de su especialidad, potenciando nuevas herramientas y dinámicas de aprendizaje. También, se ha desempeñado como jefa de proyecto de monitoreo ambiental en el marco de los Estándares Abiertos para la Conservación, integrando Internet de las Cosas y participación comunitaria. Además, ha trabajado como analista y consultora ambiental para comunidades indígenas, evaluando la gestión ambiental de grandes empresas de extracción de litio y minería metálica. Sus intereses profesionales son conservación, gestión ambiental, educación y participación comunitaria.

Silvia is the Freshwater manager for The Nature Conservancy Latin America Region. She has worked for more than 20 years in biodiversity conservation and natural resources management, with an emphasis in water resources. She joined the Conservancy in 2001 and has worked in conservation planning, natural resource management, nature based-solutions, and financial sustainability for conservation. She started working at TNC in the Ecuador program, and has expanded her experience and work to across the Latin America Region. She has experience in working in collaborative partnerships with a variety of stakeholders, including local communities, governments, national and international organizations, the private sector, and the academia. Silvia holds a Bachelors degree in Environmental Sciences from Universidad San Francisco de Quito, and a Masters degree on Environmental Management from Yale University. She participates in several women groups that promote gender equity, diversity and inclusion, and is a founder of a women group in Ecuador that promotes clean rivers (Mujeres por el Agua).
